Avalanche warning for region Vest-Finnmark Friday 27.01.2023

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
Difficult conditions. There is a persistent weak layer buried in the snow pack. Be careful in areas with wind deposited snow. Natural released both dry and wet avalanches are expected, and remote triggering from less steep terrain is possible.
  • The danger is greatest from Friday evening

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3). Remote triggering is possible.

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.
