Avalanche warning for region Vest-Finnmark Wednesday 18.05.2022

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:

Predominantly stable conditions, but be aware in steep lee areas at higher elevations, small dry wind slabs are possible to release. Be careful close to and in terrain traps. If/when the sun comes out, the danger will rise in areas where the snow becomes wet and soft.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Advice
