Avalanche warning for region Sunnmøre Saturday 21.05.2022

Be careful on steep slopes with soft and wet snow, a skier can trigger avalanches here. Keep distance to cornices and areas with glide-cracks.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

I nordvendte heng over 1000 moh ligg det framleis turr og lagdelt snø. Elles er snødekket stort sett smelteomvandla og stabilt.
Det er framleis mykje snø i fjellet. Snøgrensa stig gradvis og mot tregrensa, høgast mot sør.

I Byksefonna øvst i Valldal gjekk det to glideskred torsdag.

2-6 mm precipitation. Rain up to 1900 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Breeze from southwest. -4 °C to 10 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Saturday 21. May 2022

5-8 mm precipitation. Rain up to 1700 m a.s.l Saturday night. Breeze from southeast. -1 °C to 5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Snødekket ventes å være stort sett stabilt nå. Nedbør som regn antas å kunne svekke snødekket i nordvendte heng som tidligere ikke har sett så mye sol. I heng som tidligere har sett sol, antas det at snødekket vil tåle nevnte nedbør. Husk likevel at i bratt terreng med våt, løs snø er det mulig å løse ut løssnøskred.

Hold god avstand til alle skavler som svekkes i varmen.
Glideskred er uforutsigbare, men kan forekomme der det er forhold for det, for eksempel der underlaget er svaberg eller bratt gressbakke. Unngå terreng under glidesprekker.
