Avalanche warning for region Ofoten Friday 26.04.2024

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Solar radiation may cause some small natural wet avalanches. Generally stable conditions in many places due to a hard snow surface. Be aware of the risk of slipping on hard and icy snow surface.
In the alpine there may be smaller areas with unstable wind deposited snow.

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Den siste perioden har vært preget av kulde om natta med gjenfrosset snødekke tidlig på dagen. Soloppvarming på dagtid gir våt overflate. I lavlandet begynner det å bli lite snø og den er smelteomdannet. Over ca. 500 moh veksler snøoverfalten mellom skare og områder med tørr snø som er preget av vind.

Vær oppmerksom på at kantkorn dannet i overflaten på onsdag kan ha føyket ned enkelte steder. Det vil føre til at skiløpere lettere vil kunne påvirke fokksnøflak.

Avalanche risk assessment

I heng som får direkte solinnstråling vil det kunne løsne små skred i nysnøen som kom i går. Skikjørere vil også kunne løsne små skred i heng som blir myke grunnet sola.
I høyfjellet, over ca. 700 moh, finnes det enkelte områder med ustabile tynne fokksnøflak som en skiløpere kan løse ut. Skredene forventes i all hovedsak å bli små, men vær forsiktig i områder med fokksnøflak.
