The danger increases when the wind picks up. Avoid areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Forrige uke kom det mye nysnø etterfulgt av perioder med kraftig vind fra omkring SV og mye snøfokk. Lørdag kom 10-30cm nysnø med litt vind fra NV, og det ligger stedvis mye løs snø tilgjengelig for vindtransport.

Det er generelt et tykt snødekke i regionen med flere skarelag. Det finnes også svake lag av kantkorn nede i snødekket, men disse ligger dypt og er svært vanskelig å påvirke.

5 mm precipitation, up to 10 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from southwest. -13 °C to -8 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Monday 2. March 2020

5 mm precipitation, up to 15 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from north, changing to breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -11 °C to -5 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Vindøkning vil flytte på mye snø, og bygevær med mulighet for lokalt en del nysnø kan gi ustabile fokksnøflak i leområder. Det er usikre værprognoser, og mengden nysnø og vind vil ha mye å si for utbredelsen av skredproblemet.
