Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Wednesday 03.04.2024

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Be aware of isolated wind slabs in alpine terrain. A weak layer of buried surface hoar or facets can be present underneath the wind slabs. Stable conditions below 1000 masl.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Tuesday 2. April 2024

Mountain weather

Tuesday 2. April 2024

Little to no precipitation. Fresh breeze from east, changing to breeze from the northeast during the afternoon. -16 °C to -10 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Wednesday 3. April 2024

Little to no precipitation. Breeze from east, changing to breeze from the north during the afternoon. -19 °C to -10 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
