Avalanche warning for region Heiane Tuesday 14.03.2023

Be careful in and close to terrain traps and on steep slopes until the new snow has stabilized. Be aware that persistent weak layers can be hidden in the snow pack.

Avalanche problems

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3). Remote triggering is possible.

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snøoverflaten er påvirket av mildvær. I fjellet er det vekslende avblåst og isete og fokksnøflak av varierende hardhet. I vindskjermet terreng kan det ligge litt løs og ubunden snø.

Det er observert kantkorn over skarelag som var lett å løse ut før mandagens mildvær kom inn. Det er uklart hvor mye som har blitt igjen av dette.

16 mm precipitation, up to 35 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1000 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Strong breeze from south, changing to fresh breeze from the south. -7 °C to 1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 14. March 2023

5-8 mm precipitation. Rain up to 200 m a.s.l Tuesday night. Breeze from north, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -7 °C to -2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Det har kommet opptil 30 cm nysnø mandag, mest sør og øst i regionen. Vinden har natt til tirsdag flytter nysnøen og dannet fokksnøflak. Vær forsiktig i leheng med fokksnøflak.

Det kan finnes kantkorn i snødekket som kan være lett å løse ut. Vær obs på faretegn som drønn og skytende sprekker.
