Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Tuesday 02.04.2024

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Showers will result in local differences in new snow amount and danger level within the region. Avoid areas with fresh storm slabs.

Avalanche problems

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Monday 1. April 2024

Mountain weather

Monday 1. April 2024

1-5 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Breeze from north, changing to fresh breeze from the northeast during the evening. -19 °C to -10 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Tuesday 2. April 2024

2 mm precipitation, up to 12 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as snow. Fresh breeze from north, changing to fresh breeze from the east during the afternoon. -18 °C to -11 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
