Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Saturday 30.03.2024

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Generally stable conditions, but small avalanches can be triggered by skier/snowmobile in small wind slabs.
Sunshine can also trigger a few small loose avalanches in steep sun facing slopes.
Older persistent weak layers are considered stable at the moment.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Friday 29. March 2024

Mountain weather

Friday 29. March 2024

2 mm precipitation, up to 8 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as snow. Fresh breeze from north. -12 °C to -6 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Saturday 30. March 2024

1-3 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Breeze from north, changing to breeze from the northeast during the afternoon. -14 °C to -9 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
