Avalanche warning for region Vest-Telemark Wednesday 01.05.2024

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Be careful on steep slopes with soft and wet snow, a skier can trigger avalanches here and some avalanches can release naturally.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Tuesday 30. April 2024

Overflaten er i hovedsak smelteomvandlet og varierer mye i hardhet gjennom døgnet. På de høyeste fjelltoppene finnes det noen steder våt nysnø over den harde smelteomvandlede snøpakken.

Mountain weather

Tuesday 30. April 2024

6-9 mm precipitation. Precipitation as rain. Breeze from southeast. -3 °C to 6 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Wednesday 1. May 2024

Little to no precipitation. Fresh breeze from east. 1 °C to 11 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Sol og stigende temperaturer gjør snøen våt i alle himmelretninger. Det er lett å løse ut våte skred i bratte heng, og skred kan løsne av seg selv. Skredfaren øker utover dagen.
