Avalanche warning for region Nord-Trøndelag Friday 02.02.2024

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
Rising temperatures and rain will give risk of large natural wet slab avalanches. Avoid all avalanche terrain.
  • The danger is greatest from Friday afternoon

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Water pooling in/above snow layers

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Mountain weather

Friday 2. February 2024

25 mm precipitation, up to 45 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1300 m a.s.l during the evening. Strong breeze from southwest, changing to gale from the west during the afternoon. -7 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

All ferdsel i skredterreng frarådes.
