Avalanche warning for region Nord-Troms Friday 08.05.2020

Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Especially where the wind deposited slabs are thin or soft, a slab avalanche is easier to trigger here.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Det ligger nysnø oppå våt snø i skogen. Nysnøen er fuktig men blir gradvis tørrere ved skoggrensa. I høyden er det er full vinter. Det er mer snø enn normalt i regionen, og det finnes flere store skavler.

Det finnes et vedvarende svakt lag av kantkorn dypt i snødekket, dette er trolig vanskelig å påvirke.

20 mm precipitation, up to 35 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from west, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the evening. -8 °C to -3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

3-6 mm precipitation. Breeze from west. -8 °C to -4 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Temperaturen synker, vinden løyer og nedbøren gir seg. Stabiliserende forhold for snødekket og skredfaren synker. Fokksnøflak fra torsdag stabiliseres gradvis og det skal mer til for å løse ut skred. Enkelte steder kan skiløper løse ut store skred. Det ventes ikke naturlig utløste skred fredag.
