Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Sunday 12.05.2024

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Generally stable conditions but be cautious in steep slopes with wet snow and avoid areas with glide cracks.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Glide avalanches

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Wet snow/melting near the ground

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Saturday 11. May 2024

Mountain weather

Saturday 11. May 2024

6-8 mm precipitation. Rain up to 1200 m a.s.l during the evening. Breeze from southeast, changing to fresh breeze from the south during renoon. -7 °C to 3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Sunday 12. May 2024

5-8 mm precipitation. Precipitation as rain. Fresh breeze from southwest. 1 °C to 5 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
