Avalanche warning for region Heiane Monday 06.01.2020

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

The snowpack is still wet and unstable. Avoid potential release areas for avalanches. It might be some spots with fresh wind deposited snow at high altitude.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Sunday 5. January 2020

Vestlig vind har tidligere lagt opp mye snø i leområder mot Ø. Under 1000 moh har det vært stor snøsmelting og det er generelt lite snø i regionen, spesielt i vestlige deler.

Fredag og lørdag gikk det snøbyger i regionen. Frem til søndag formiddag kom det opp til 20 cm ny snø flere steder i regionen.

15 mm precipitation, up to 25 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from southwest, changing to strong breeze from the west during the afternoon. -7 °C to 2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Monday 6. January 2020

6-10 mm precipitation. Fresh breeze from southwest. -2 °C to 3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Helgas flakdannelser trenger fortsatt tid for å stabilisere seg og det er mulig å løse ut middels store skred. Leheng mot øst og nord er mest utsatt.
Lavere ventes snøen å ha sunket sammen og vil gradvis stabilisere seg etter søndagens kraftige mildvær og regn.
Vær oppmerksom på at skavler mange steder kan være store og svake.
