At some spots it might also be possible to trigger avalanches in persistent weak layers of facets deeper in the snow pack. Large avalanches might be the result.

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Det er fokksnø av ulik hardheit i høgda etter siste snøfall. I skog og skjerma områder er det mjukare snø og laussnø. Til dels store mengder snø er tilgjengeleg for vind.

Det er kantkornlag på det eldre snødekket, men obs i Kvinnherad tysdag tyder på at ein må over 900 moh. for å finne det.

Det er svake lag av kantkorn i det eldre snødekket som kan bli løyst ut. Skred i dette laget kan bli store. Det er lettare å komme i kontakt med det svake laget på stadar med mjukt eller tynt snødekke. Skoggrensa eller i kanten av lune formasjoner er slike stadar.
