Avalanche warning for region Hardanger Tuesday 03.03.2020

Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Especially where the wind deposited slabs are thin or soft, a slab avalanche is easier to trigger here.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Det er mykje snø i fjellområda i regionen. Snøen er normalt fordelt med mest i nordaustlege, austlege og søraustlege leområder.
Det er store skavlar og vindformasjonar i terrenget.
Det eldre snødekket er smelteomvandla etter mildvêr og gjenfrysing.

10 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from south. -8 °C to -4 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Tuesday 3. March 2020

1-3 mm precipitation. Moderate gale from southeast. -10 °C to -5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Kraftig vind frå SØ vil flytte snø inn i leområder, omfanget vil være avhengig av mengden løs snø tilgjengelig for transport. Vær forsiktig i områder hvor det dannes ferske fokksnøflak.

Eldre fokksnøflak fra tidligere trenger fortsatt noe tid til stabilisering.

Det er forhold for glideskred i enkeltheng, vær spesielt oppmerksom på dette i områder med glidesprekker.
