Consequence
Vulnerable infrastructure can be affected due to accumulation of snow. Travel time may increase on some journeys. Local driving conditions may become difficult. Blowing snow at higher altitudes causes reduced visibility and possibly convoys and/or closed roads.
Advice
Vulnerable installations and objects should be protected. Allow some extra time for transportation and driving. Use tires fit for winter conditions and use caution while driving. The need for emergency preparedness shall be assessed continuously by emergency response actors.
Description
From late Sunday morning heavy snow is expected in the mountains. Total 25-50 cm snow is expected, locally it can be more. The freezing level increase to about 1000 meters, and decrease again from Sunday afternoon to 200-400 m. The freezing level will be close to the ground level throughout Monday, therefore snow is also expected in the lowlands.
