Consequence

Abrupt change in wind speed and wind direction. It can be difficult to navigate due to snow, blowing snow and reduced visibility. Some journeys may have longer travel time. It can be locally difficult driving conditions due to heavy snowfall in combination with wind. The power supply may be impacted.

Advice

Be aware of abrupt weather changes. Avoid unnecessary journeys to exposed places. Consider whether the journey is necessary. Check road reports (175.no). Use tires fit for winter conditions and use caution while driving.

Description

A polar low is late Saturday morning developing at Tromsoeflaket and move east-southeast. The low is expected to make landfall at the coast of Western Finnmark few hours later. South of the center the wind is expected at west storm force 10, possibly violent storm force 11, whereas west of the center the wind is expected at north and northeast up to storm force 10. The low is expected to weaken gradually as it moves over land Saturday afternoon.
