Warning from MET Norway for Vestland and large parts of Rogaland

2

Snow, yellow level (MET)

Published: Valid: from 16.03.2023 13:00 to 17.03.2023 06:00

Warning

Snow

Consequence

Vulnerable infrastructure can be affected due to accumulation of snow. Travel time may increase on some journeys. Local driving conditions may become difficult. Blowing snow at higher altitudes causes reduced visibility and possibly convoys and/or closed roads.

Advice

Vulnerable installations and objects should be protected. Allow some extra time for transportation and driving. Use tires fit for winter conditions and use caution while driving. The need for emergency preparedness shall be assessed continuously by emergency response actors.

Description

In connection with the low pressure system that hits Western Norway on Thursday, 10-15 cm of snow is expected within 12 hours from Thursday afternoon to Friday morning. Inland areas can locally get up to 25 cm of snow, and at higher altitudes there can be more. A transition to rain is expected from early Friday morning, first in outer and coastal areas.
