Be careful on steep slopes with soft and wet snow, a skier can trigger avalanches here. Keep distance to cornices and areas with glide-cracks.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Etter flere dager med mildvær til fjelltopphøyde og fravær av nattefrost består snøoverflaten stort sett av våt eller fuktig smelteomvandlet snø.
Over tregrensa er det fortsatt mye snø. Noe tørr, lagdelt snø kan finnes i nordvendt terreng over ca. 1500 moh.

På Strynefjellet gikk det søndag et stort glideskred.

4-8 mm precipitation. Precipitation as rain. Fresh breeze from southeast. 1 °C to 7 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Wednesday 25. May 2022

1-3 mm precipitation. Rain up to 1600 m a.s.l Wednesday night. Fresh breeze from south, changing to breeze from the southwest during the afternoon. -2 °C to 5 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

I bratt terreng med myk, våt snø er det lett å løse ut løssnøskred. Små og middels store skred er mest aktuelt, men glideskred kan bli store. Glideskred kan løsne av seg selv hele døgnet. Unngå opphold under glideskrekker og husk at skavler svekkes i varmen.
