Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Monday 08.04.2024

Skiers can easially release wet avalanches were the snowpack is wet. Some wet naturally released avalanches may occur when it rains. Avoid areas with fresh wind deposited snow in the alpine.

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Sunday 7. April 2024

Regn opp til ca.1000 moh på søndag kveld og natt til mandag har fuktet snødekket. Der nedbør har kommet som snø har vind fra sørvest ført til fokksnøansamlinger i nord- og østvendt terreng. Snødekket over mildværsgrensa er generelt preget av vind.

Før mildvær på søndag viste snøprofiler at det fantes kantkorn under skarelag i toppen av snødekket. Dette problemet har ikke blitt betraktet som et skredproblem hittil og vil eventuelt være avgrenset til høyfjellet der nedbør har kommet som snø de siste dager.

20 mm precipitation, up to 30 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as rain. Fresh breeze from southwest. -6 °C to 2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Monday 8. April 2024

6 mm precipitation, up to 14 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 1000 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from southwest. -2 °C to 2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Det vil fremdeles være mildt med noe nedbør og frisk bris fra sørvest. Skiløpere kan løse ut våte skred der snødekket er vått og enkelte naturlig utløste våte skred kan løsne av seg selv mens det regner. I høyfjellet trenger fersk fokksnø i leområder tid til stabilisering og den må betraktes som ustabil og skredfarlig.
