Avalanche warning for region Heiane Tuesday 05.04.2022

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Be careful in terrain with fresh wind-deposited snow. Also be careful in steep and sunexposed terrain.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Monday 4. April 2022

Mountain weather

Monday 4. April 2022

8 mm precipitation, up to 15 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 600 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from southeast, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during renoon. -6 °C to 0 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Tuesday 5. April 2022

3 mm precipitation, up to 9 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 300 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Strong breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -9 °C to -3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Kraftig vind saman med ny nedbør og stadvis noko ubunden snø vil gje snøtransport til søraustlege leheng. Her vil ein få auka pålagring og ferske fokksnøflak.

Ein lyt forvente nokre laussnøskred i bratte sørvendte fjellsider om sola får tak i løpet av dagen.
