Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Be careful in terrain with fresh storm slabs until the new snow is stabilized. Keep your distance to areas beneath glide cracks.

Avalanche problems

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Glide avalanches

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Wet snow/melting near the ground

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Sunday 2. February 2020

Mountain weather

Sunday 2. February 2020

2 mm precipitation, up to 8 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from northwest. -10 °C to -6 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Monday 3. February 2020

3-6 mm precipitation. Calm/light breeze from west, changing to strong breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -14 °C to -8 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Fare for enkelte glideskred. Vær oppmerksom i områder med glidesprekker.
