Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Thursday 16.05.2024

Danger level 1 - Low avalanche danger

Published:
Generally stable conditions. Wet loose avalanches are likely. Be aware that skiing conditions can be challenging due to weak cornices, weak snow bridges over creeks, protruding rocks and rotten snow at low elevations.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Loose snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Wednesday 15. May 2024

Helgens mildvær og regn fram til i dag har påvirket snødekket høyt til fjells. Hele snødekket er trolig smelteomvandlet og uten særlig lagdeling. I lavlandet begynner det å bli lite snø, særlig i sørvendt terreng.

Mountain weather

Wednesday 15. May 2024

3 mm precipitation, up to 9 mm in the most exposed areas. Precipitation as rain. Gale from west, changing to moderate gale from the northwest during the evening. -1 °C to 4 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Thursday 16. May 2024

3-4 mm precipitation. Rain up to 700 m a.s.l during the afternoon. Fresh breeze from northwest, changing to breeze from the northwest during renoon. -2 °C to 2 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Generelt stabile forhold.
