Avalanche warning for region Sunnmøre Friday 22.01.2021

Locally unstable conditions. A skier or a snow mobile may trigger avalanches in the fresh wind slabs, while persistent weak layers deeper in the snow in general is hard to trigger.

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Snøoverflata varierer frå fokksnø til tørr laussnø. Ryggar og konvekse formasjonar er blåst av. Under tregrensa ligg det mykje laussnø.

Det utvikla seg rim og kantkorn i klårvêret etter nyttår. I vestlege delar av Sunnmørsalpane er kantkorn fyrst og fremst observert kring skarelag eller ved bakken.

0-3 mm precipitation. Fresh breeze from southeast, changing to breeze from the southeast during renoon. -10 °C to -3 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Det kan løysast ut skred i enkelte leheng med ferske fokksnøflak danna i vind frå søraust - også i skogen. I søraustleg sektor kan gamle fokksnøflak på vedvarande svake lag i snødekket løysast ut, helst der fokksnøflaka er tynne.

Ver merksam på fareteikn som drønn og skytande sprekkar. Tynt snødekke og mykje oppstikkande stein gjer at sjølv mindre skred kan gjere stor fysisk skade.
