Avalanche warning for region Salten Tuesday 21.01.2020

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Heavy snow showers and strong winds from W-NW will form large, unstable wind slabs in the alpine. Naturally released avalanches are likely. Below treeline, the risk of wet avalanches will slowly decrease during the day.

Mildvær og nedbør som regn høyt til fjells på mandag fukter opp snødekket. Tidligere mildvær har fuktet opp det som er av snø opp til 800 moh, og avhengig av hvor høyt mildværet går mandag vil også snøen høyere enn dette fuktes opp.

Lavere enn 200 -300 moh er det svært begrenset skiføre.

Ut ifra at det er meldt mye vind, skulle vi forvente at det er observert snøfokk, men på de observasjonene vi har fått inn virker det som om været på mandag var for vått til at snøen var flyttbar.

Tuesday 21. January 2020

27 mm precipitation, up to 45 mm in the most exposed areas. Gale from west, changing to gale from the northwest during the evening. -8 °C to -3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Været ventes å dreie på mer V og NV i løpet av dagen. Det vil trolig gi overgang til snø og snøbyger. Dette vil føre til kraftig pålagring av fokksnø over skoggrensen og det er fare for naturlig utløste tørre flakskred.

Faren for våte skred avtar i løpet av dagen, men natt til tirsdag kan det fortsatt gå enkelte naturlig utløste skred.
