Avalanche warning for region Nord-Troms Friday 30.04.2021

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
Avoid slopes with recently formed wind slabs. Areas without new snow will have safe travel conditions.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Friday 30. April 2021

Mountain weather

Thursday 29. April 2021

12 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from northwest, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during renoon. -12 °C to -4 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Friday 30. April 2021

8 mm precipitation, up to 15 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from northwest. -12 °C to -7 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

OPPDATERT FREDAG MORGEN.
