Avalanche warning for region Heiane Sunday 27.12.2020

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Demanding cobditions! Wet natural avalanches possible below the snow line. Avoid avalanche release and run out areas. A skier or a snow mobile may trigger avalanches in the fresh storm slabs in the alpine, Persistent weak layers of surface hoar or facets may be covered under the storm slabs.

on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Water pooling in/above snow layers

New snow (slab avalanches)

on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Det ligger mest snø i vestvendt og nordvendt terreng. Vindutsatte formasjoner er avblåst eller består av skare. Det er generelt lite snø under 800 moh og gammelt snødekke er påvirket av mildvær tidligere.

Det snør lett i regionen lørdag morgen. Gullingen skisenter i Suldal har fått 10 cm nysnø i løpet av natta.

35 mm precipitation, up to 70 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from southeast, changing to fresh breeze from the southeast during the evening. -3 °C to 1 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Høye temperaturer og svært mye nedbør gjør at våte skred blir hovedproblemet i regionen søndag. Disse kan løsne av seg selv der det kom mye nysnø lørdag. Vær også oppmerksom på at nysnøflak høyere til fjells nå får større utbredelse og kan ligge på ustabile lag av rim eller kantkorn under nysnøen. Disse kan både løsne naturlig eller ved påvirkning fra skiløpere.
