Avalanche warning for region Trollheimen Sunday 29.03.2020

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
The danger level will increase to considerable (level 3) due to percipitation in combination with strong winds. Avoid leeward slopes.

Avalanche problems

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Poor bonding between crust and overlying snow

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Saturday 28. March 2020

Mountain weather

Sunday 29. March 2020

15 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from northwest. -13 °C to -7 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment
