Avalanche warning for region Nord-Troms Saturday 17.02.2018

Generally stable conditions, but wind slabs can be present in isolated features. There is a persistent weak layer present in the snowpack but is not able to propagate.

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches are relatively harmless to people, but can knock you off balance. Can be dangerous close to terrain traps. (size 1)

Mildvær i starten av forrige uke førte til dannelse av skare høyt til fjells. I høyden er snødekket generelt preget av avblåst skare og noen lommer med gammel fokksnø. Over 800 moh er det store områder med knallhard, glasert skare som stedvis kan være vanskelig å ta seg frem på.

Det finnes flere godt utviklede kantkornlag i den øverste delen av snødekket, men disse har vist liten evne til bruddforplantning, og anses ikke som et problem nå.

Det er ikke observert skredaktivitet de siste dagene.

Det ventes fortsatt oppholdsvær og lite vind, dermed blir det ingen endring i skredfaren.

Noen få steder kan det være små gamle fokksnøflak som har dårlig binding til skaren under, men generelt er det stabile forhold. Fare for utglidning på glatt skare.
