Danger level 4 - High avalanche danger

An increase in wind will lead to a large amount of wind transported snow. Avoid all avalanche terrain. Naturally triggered avalanches likely.

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Det har kommet svært mye nysnø de siste dagene, men med store lokale variasjoner. Nedbøren har kommet med sterk vind fra SØ-S.

I varslingsregionene Hardanger og Vest-Telemark er det observasjoner av kantkorn i snødekket. Det er uvisst hvilken utbredelse dette laget har i Vest-Agder.

Avalanche risk assessment

Økende vind opp i liten storm fra SØ, mye tilgjengelig løs snø og ny nedbør vil gi svært stor snøtransport inn leeområder, vesentlig mot V-NV-N. Det vil bygge seg opp store fokksnøflak som kan løsne av seg selv.

Skredfaren vurderes til 4-stor i de fjellområdene i fylket som har fått mest nysnø de siste dagene.

Varselet er basert på et enklere datagrunnlag enn regionale varsler og utgis kun for faregrad 4 og 5.
