Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Monday 08.06.2020

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:
Naturally released avalanches are possible in the alpine due to large amount of new snow and strong winds. Below the new snow line, the rain will weaken the snowpack and large wet slab and glide avalanches are possible.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Buried weak layer of new snow

Glide avalanches

on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Wet snow/melting near the ground

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Sunday 7. June 2020

Mountain weather

Sunday 7. June 2020

3-7 mm precipitation. Fresh breeze from south. 3 °C to 9 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Monday 8. June 2020

12 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from southwest, changing to fresh breeze from the southwest during renoon. 2 °C to 9 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Avalanche risk assessment

Unngå områder under glidesprekker.
