Sun and high temperatures gives higher risk of wet loose-snow and slab avalanches in steep sun-exposed terrain. Be aware of cornice falls and glide avalanches.

Mildværet i starten av forrige uke bløtet opp snødekket og tæret godt på snøen i lavlandet.

I høyden har nysnø i kombinasjon med vind fra nord dannet fokksnø i sørlige leheng. Stedvis, over 500 moh, har fokksnøen bundet seg dårlig til det gamle skarelaget.

Natt til fredag gikk det et middels stort flakskred i fokksnø på sørvendt side av Novatind.

Avalanche risk assessment

Klarvær gjør at snødekket fryser til i løpet av natten. Sol og varme gjennom dagen myker opp og gir smeltevann i snødekket. Dette kan hope seg opp og gi naturlig utløste skred i bratte, solfylte skråninger.

Fokksnøen fra sist uke virker å ha stabilisert seg, men vær litt ekstra obs høyt til fjells i skyggefulle formasjoner. Her kan stabiliseringen ha gått tregere.

Det er mye snø og store skavler i fjellet. Høye temperaturer og solskinn vil svekke skavlene ytterligere. Hold avstand.
