Avalanche warning for region Sunnmøre Thursday 03.01.2019

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Generally unstable conditions in higher terrain. Avoid lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Naturally triggered avalanches may occur.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Stormen nyttårsaften og 1.nyttårsdag kom med mye nedbør, totalt opp mot 80-100 mm på to dager.
Det regnet nesten helt til topps på nyttårsaften, i løpet av 1.nyttårsdag krøp snøgrensa ned til havnivå. Det varierer hvor mye snø som ligger i terrenget. Snødekket er vindherja og ujevnt fordelt over skoggrensa, det meste ligger der i leområder mot S og Ø. Før stormen var det lite snø.

Det er usikkert hvor mye skredaktivitet stormen har skapt pga dårlig sikt.

Onsdag formiddag er det minusgrader overalt og snøbyger fra N/NV.

6-10 mm precipitation. Strong breeze from northwest, changing to fresh breeze from the northwest during the afternoon. -10 °C to -4 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Thursday 3. January 2019

10 mm precipitation, up to 20 mm in the most exposed areas. Fresh breeze from southwest. -5 °C to 0 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Ny nedbør og vind gir ferske nysnøflak som kan løses ut av en skiløper. Det kan også gå enkelte naturlig utløste skred. Skredfaren er størst over skoggrensa og i indre deler av regionen.
