Avalanche warning for region Romsdal Monday 30.12.2019

Be careful in lee areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Especially where the wind deposited slabs are thin or soft, a slab avalanche is easier to trigger there.

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Det har vore sterk vind og stadvis mykje nedbør siste døgnet med regn opp i 1600 moh. I områder nedbøren har kome som snø har den lagt seg i nordaustlege leheng.
Snøgrensa ligg mellom 2-300 moh og det er normale snømengder for årstida.

Svake lag av kantkorn kan enkelte stadar ligge uunder skarelag.

20 mm precipitation, up to 40 mm in the most exposed areas. Moderate gale from west, changing to strong breeze from the northwest during the evening. -5 °C to 1 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Kraftig vind frå vest og stadvis mykje nedbør gjev stor snøtransport til austlege leområder over 900 moh. Her får ein stor pålagring og ferske fokksnøflak.
Stadvis ligg det svakt lag kantkorn under skarelag i høgda.

Der nedbøren kjem som regn på snødekke kan ein forvente våte skred.
