Be careful in terrain with fresh storm slabs until the new snow is stabilized. Keep your distance to areas beneath glide cracks.

New snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Glide avalanches

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Wet snow/melting near the ground

Below you can see a description of the current snow cover information and current weather forecast in the mountains. If your observations deviate greatly from what is described here, the warning will not necessarily apply either. Always make your own judgments or stay away from avalanche terrain.

Snødekket er generelt preget av mye vind og nedbør som både regn og snø den siste tiden. Lavere enn 1200 moh er snødekket gjennomfuktet, lørdag med mye vann i snødekket.

Over 1000-1200 moh var snøen tørrere da den kom og i leområder er det fokksnø av varierende hardhet. Der vinden har fått herje er det avblåst til barmark eller skare.

Det er observert glidesprekker flere steder i regionen.

2-5 mm precipitation. Fresh breeze from northwest. -7 °C to -3 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Monday 3. February 2020

5 mm precipitation, up to 10 mm in the most exposed areas. Calm/light breeze from east, changing to strong breeze from the southeast during the afternoon. -10 °C to -5 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Noe nysnø og vind vil føre til dannelse av nysnøflak i leheng. Mest nedbør og vind sist på dagen, leheng mot V og NV er mest utsatt. Vær forsiktig i områder hvor det dannes ferske nysnøflak, disse vil være lette å løse ut.

Fare for enkelte glideskred, unngå opphold under glidesprekker.
