Weather
• Snow • -0.6 °C • 8 m/s from SW ↗ • Wind speeds between 17m/s and 6m/s over the last 24 hours. Previous night saw a temperature of 1°C and a mix of snow, sleet and drizzle accumulating around 10 cm with considerably more in lee areas. For a period the freezing level was above the summit of Tjørhomfjellet. A drop in temperature to -1.8°C in the early hours of Wednesday resulted in a 'breakable rain crust' forming. Throughout the day there has been clear spells and further snowfall, again around 10cm and this was transported by the wind, subsequently being deposited on N/E and E facing aspects.
Snow Profile
• East Facing. 40° slope angle. Due to time constraints it wasn't possible to examine grain types and temperature but to summarise it seemed the constant fluctuations between snow and rain over the past few days has created many layers in the snow pack. What seemed evident was that although numerous layers collapsed during compression testing, we couldn't seem to get any propogation during this investigation. • 9 Stratigraphy layers
