Avalanche warning for region Lofoten og Vesterålen Sunday 18.04.2021

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

High temperatures and sunexposion will weaken the snowpack considerably. Keep good distance to avalanche terrain and run out zones for wet avalanches.

Saturday 17. April 2021

I høyden har bygevær onsdag og torsdag flyttet og ommøblert snødekket og det er gjennomfuktet et godt stykke opp i terrenget som følge av høye temperaturer og kraftig solinnstråling.

Lørdag ble det registrert ett str 3 flakskred i en bratt nordvestvendt fjellside ved Sortland. Skredet er utløst enten fredag kveld eller lørdag morgen

Ved Ånstadblåheia målestasjon (500 moh) var det lørdag morgen allerede 4 plussgrader og strålende sol.

Det melder fortsatt høye temperaturer i kombinasjon med sol og det ventes naturlig utløste våte skred. Det kan fortsatt finnes ustabil fokksnø på de høyeste toppene, særlig i skyggesider
