Avalanche forecast for Indre Sogn Sunday 2018-01-21

Be careful in terrain with fresh and soft windslabs. Dry loose snow is easy to trigger in steep terrain, use caution near terrain traps.

Wind slab avalanches

Buried weak layer of new snow

Be careful and keep distance to each other in steep (above 30 degrees) terrain with fresh wind deposited snow, especially convex terrain. An avalanche is easier to trigger where wind slabs are thin or soft. Look for areas where the wind recently has deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies. Remember that local wind effects will cause variation in where the wind slabs occur.

Low additional load
Some steep slopes
Possible

Loose dry avalanches

Loose snow

Be careful near terrain traps and in large steep slopes until the new snow has stabilized. Move gradually away from the fall line when skiing on large slopes to avoid to be caught by small sluffs you released while skiing. The avalanche problem is generally widely distributed on any steep slope with deep new snow.
