Avalanche warning for region Hardanger Tuesday 30.03.2021

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Wet natural avalanches possible. The avalanche danger stays at the same level as long as the rain continues. Avoid avalanche release and run out areas.

Monday 29. March 2021

Mildvêr dei siste dagane har gjennomfukta snødekket høgt til fjells. Toppar og ryggar er avblåst, og mange stader ligg gamal skare nær overflata. Det er mest snø i nordvendte leheng, men det er store variasjonar i regionen. Det er lite snø for årstida. Snøgrensa ligg 700-800 moh, høgast vest på Folgefonnhalvøya.

Observasjonar tyder på at kantkornlag frå februar framleis kan være intakt høgt til fjells over 1200 moh.

Laurdag vart mange middels store naturleg utløyste skred observert i solvendte brattheng på Røldalsfjellet. Eit personutløyst lite skred vart rapportert frå Varanuten i Sauda på laurdag.

40 mm precipitation, up to 60 mm in the most exposed areas. Strong breeze from southwest. -1 °C to 2 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Meir regn heilt opp til fjelltopphøgde vil auke belastninga på snødekket, spesielt der snødekket er lagdelt med gamle is- og skarelag. Her kan det gå naturleg utløyste våte flakskred. Der svakt lag av kantkorn ligg djupt i snødekket kan regnvêret gi stor nok tilleggsbelastning til å løyse ut store skred. Problemet er truleg avgrensa til enkelte heng høgt til fjells.
