Avalanche warning for region Sør-Troms Monday 13.03.2023

Locally unstable conditions. A skier or a snow mobile may trigger avalanches in the fresh wind slabs, while persistent weak layers deeper in the snow in general is hard to trigger.

På fjellet er snødekket vindpreget. Det er trolig store ansamlinger av fokksnø i nordvestlige leområder etter kraftig vind fra sørvest lørdag og søndag. I lavlandet under tregrensen er det mye tørr og ubunden løssnø.

Det gamle snødekket mot bakken består av mye smelteformer og er stort sett hard og kompakt. I skogen består snøoverflaten av mye tørr løssnø.

I Gratangen er det observert et vedvarende svakt lag av kantkorn under skare. Laget er antagelig vanskelig å påvirke og anses foreløpig ikke som et problem.

Tidlig søndag morgen stengte et skred fylkesvei 7864 på Senja.

Søndag var det observert 15 cm nynsø i Bergsbotn på Senja.

Monday 13. March 2023

0-3 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Breeze from southeast, changing to fresh breeze from the southeast during the evening. -16 °C to -5 °C at 700 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Avalanche risk assessment

Med minkende vindstyrke og lite nysnø avtar også skredfaren. Fokksnøen vil etter hvert gradvis stabiliseres, men lokalt kan det fortsatt finnes flak som kan påvirkes av en skiløper.
