Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

General unstable conditions. Wet avalanches can release naturally during the night and morning. At higher altitudes avoid areas with wind-deposited snow, naturally released avalanches are expected in areas with significant wind loading.

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Wet snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

Forrige helg var det mildvær i regionen som dannet en glatt skare opp til ca 800 moh. Den glatte skaren er ikke observert i indre strøk. Over dette har det lagt seg fokksnø.

Det er tidligere observert vedvarende svake lag av kantkorn høyt i snødekket, men sannsynligvis er dette drept av mildværet.
Det finnes også kantkorn ved bakken. Det er foreløpig noe usikkert hva status på dette svake laget er etter mildvær på søndag. Vi antar at det trolig er vanskelig å påvirke de fleste steder nå som kaldere vær gir tilfrysing av overliggende snø.

På onsdag meldes det om noen små personutløste flakskred på Fagernesfjellet der svakt lag var dårlig binding mellom glatt skare og overliggende snø.

20 mm precipitation, up to 35 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 500 m a.s.l Saturday night. Strong breeze from southwest, changing to moderate gale from the west during the evening. -8 °C to -2 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.
