At higher elevations, be aware in steep areas with with slabs. The danger also increases during the day in steep and sunexposed terrain.

Avalanche problems

Wet snow (loose snow avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Snow cover (in Norwegian)

De siste dagene har det kommet nysnø sammen med kraftig vind. I leområder ligger det myke og hardere flak av fokksnø. På vindutsatte steder er det avblåst ned til gammel fokksnø og skare.

I høyfjellet over 800-1000 moh er det trolig fortsatt vedvarende svake lag av kantkorn fra kuldeperiode i januar. Men lagene er vanskelig å påvirke, og finnes i størst omfang i indre strøk.

Det har blitt observert rim i fjellet mellom Narvik og Bjørnfjell. Dette kan bli et problem når det legger seg fersk fokksnø onsdag og torsdag.
