Avalanche warning for region Nord-Troms Saturday 28.01.2023

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
Be careful in areas with fresh wind deposited snow. There is also a persistent weak layer deeper in the snowpack that can be remotely triggered and cause large avalanches. Naturally released avalanches may occur.
  • The danger is greatest until Saturday afternoon

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Wet snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.
