Avalanche warning for region Indre Troms Friday 27.01.2023

Danger level 3 - Considerable avalanche danger

Published:
The avalanche danger increases when the rain sets in. Avoid potential release areas and runout areas for avalanches. At higher altitudes avoid areas with wind-deposited snow. Naturally released avalanches are expected. There is also a persistent weak layer deep in the snowpack.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Wet snow (slab avalanches)

Avalanches may release spontaneously on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.
