The danger increases when the wind picks up. Avoid areas with wind deposited snow, typically behind ridges, ribs and in gullies.

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3).

Snøoverflaten er preget av nysnø og vind de siste dagene. Stedvis finnes det store fokksnøflak mens vindutsatte plasser er avblåst. Under siste fokksnø er det gamle snødekket hardt og stabilt opp til ca. 1200-1300 moh, etter at Gyda herjet. På de høyeste toppene (over ca 1300 moh) har de store nedbørmengdene kommet som snø og det vil ligge store fokksnøansamlinger i leområder, særlig mot Ø.

Det er en viss mulighet for at det finnes vedvarende svake lag igjen i nede snødekket over ca 1300 moh, men stort sett i regionen antas det at Gyda har nøytralisert vedvarende svake lag.

5 mm precipitation, up to 12 mm in the most exposed areas. Rain up to 500 m a.s.l during the evening. Gale from northwest, changing to strong breeze from the west during renoon. -11 °C to -3 °C at 1400 m a.s.l. Cloudy.
