Avoid lee areas where a persistent weak layer can be hidden in the snow pack. Avalanches is triggered most easily where the snow pack is thin, typically close to ridges and on convex formations. Remote triggering is possible.

You can easily trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3). Remote triggering is possible.

I høgfjellet er snøoverflata mange stader vindpåverka, men det finst også store områder med laussnø.

Under den ferskaste snøen ligg det eit nedsnødd laust lag av små kantkorn danna i overflata under kuldeperioden i slutten av november. Dette laget har stor utbreiing. Nokre stader under tynt snødekke har det danna seg begerkrystallar ved bakken.

Observasjonar torsdag viser at det er aktive vedvarande svake lag i snødekket som gjev skytande sprekkar.
