Avalanche warning for region Helgeland Thursday 19.01.2023

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Locally unstable conditions. A skier or a snow mobile may trigger avalanches in the fresh wind slabs, while persistent weak layers deeper in the snow in general is hard to trigger.

You can easily trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Snødekket er generelt kraftig vindpåvirket. Det er et tynt skarelag i toppen av snødekket opp til 700 moh. Høyere i terrenget er det hardt og vindpåvirket. Det er mange steder lite snø og oppstikkende stein.

Kaldt og klart vær på et tynt snødekke har dannet kantkorn rundt skarelag høyt i snødekket. Problemet antas være relativt utbredt i regionen.

1-3 mm precipitation. Precipitation as snow. Strong breeze from east, changing to fresh breeze from the east during renoon. -10 °C to -6 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Partly cloudy.

Thursday 19. January 2023

4-8 mm precipitation. Rain up to 100 m a.s.l during the evening. Fresh breeze from southeast, changing to fresh breeze from the southwest during the afternoon. -11 °C to -6 °C at 1100 m a.s.l. Cloudy.
