Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can easily trigger avalanches on many steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3). Remote triggering is possible.

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.

Sterk vind frå skiftande retning har sidan søndag transportert og påverka snø. Der det ikkje er avblåst, er det vindpåverka snø med varierande hardheit.

Djupare i snødekket finst det vedvarande svake lag. Det er både nedføyka kantkornlag frå kuldeperioden i slutten av november, samt kantkornlag danna rundt skare. Observasjonar som drønn og stabilitetstestar visar at desse kan påverkast.

Mandag til onsdag har det gått skred på vegen mot flyplassen i Honningsvåg, på vegen til Havøysund, og på vegen ved Kåfjorden.
