Avalanche warning for region Finnmarkskysten Sunday 14.03.2021

Danger level 2 - Moderate avalanche danger

Published:

Be careful in lee areas with fresh wind deposited snow. There is also weak snow deep in the snowpack at high elevations. It is unlikely for a skier to trigger these layers, but if it happens avalanches will be large and very dangerous.

Avalanche problems

Wind drifted snow (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on some steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury or even kill you (size 2).

Persistent weak layer (slab avalanches)

You can trigger avalanches on a few steep slopes. Avalanches can get large enough to bury a car or destroy a small house (size 3). Remote triggering is possible.

Advice

The bulletin is a planning tool and may differ from the actual situation. Always make your own evaluation. To be 100 % avalanche safe, avoid all avalanche terrain.
